Meals and Healthy Eating
Our meals are prepared daily and fresh on site. This ensures that we have good quality food for the children. We involve parents and children within our menu planning, getting them to contribute their ideas to what they would like their children to be eating everyday.
Our menu is culturally diverse, allowing the children to experience a wide range of foods and develop their taste buds! We provide breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, tea and snack for the children as well as having a snack station available for the children throughout the day where they can sit down and enjoy fresh fruit independently or with their friends.
Here there is also fresh drinking water available and cups for the children to help themselves to, in addition to their water bottles being available throughout the day. Within the kitchen the Safer foods better business guidelines are adhered to, with various risk assessments and checks in place to support food hygiene, all staff are trained in food hygiene and allergy awareness, and within the kitchen is an allergy only area that allows us to meet every child’s individual needs.
In addition to the menu, we always have sandwiches available should the main course not be of choice to the children. We always speak to the children about the importance of healthy eating, the choices that we make, explore the food groups and have trips to purchase our own fruit and vegetables!
